Intro. to Clothing Construction
Intro. to Clothing Construction requires no prior sewing experience, and offers a student all the basics of clothing construction. The objective is to learn how to operate a sewing machine, create successful seams, adjust machine controls, change the needle, and learn how to engineer clothing. Intro to Clothing Construction provides a solid foundation in building upper body garments, pattern development, textiles, types of seams, seam finishes, sleeve installation, best construction order, quality engineering , and the creativity in fashion design. Sewing machines are available for a student to use.
INTERMEDIATE
LEVEL 2
The Art of Fashion Draping
The Art of Fashion Draping offers a solid foundation in the fundamentals of draping a design on a dress form, making a pattern from the draped design, and construction techniques, stressing the importance of proper fit, sizing a design, and craftsmanship.
Dress forms are provided for the draping labs, and are for sale if a student wants to purchase their own.
LEVEL 2
Handbag Design and Manufacturing
Handbag Design and Manufacturing allows a student to build one complete pattern and sample of a handbag design. Focus is spent of drafting a pattern from a design concept, building one sample of the the design, construction order, and handbag details: Pockets, Hardware, and Zippers.
An industrial machine is available for students to use and to accommodates leather, vinyl, and thick upholstery with ease.
